I have been asked to find a Health And Safety Advisor for an operational Biomass energy plant near Sheffield. This is a permanent opportunity and will suit someone already in the biomass industry or with an interest in sustainable energy. Candidates with experience in energy from waste or other energy production environments will also be of interest. Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be responsible for development and implementation of a safety plan for the facility, risk assessments and audits, monitoring and reporting on health and safety matters, establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues, regulatory bodies and community partners. Above all you will be leading and promoting the key importance of health and safety- particularly with regard to this specialist environment. The successful applicant will need a NEBOSH qualification in health and safety, a degree in occupational health and safety will also be beneficial, knowledge of relevant regulations including ISO standards, knowledge of thermal power operations associated with Steam turbines, boilers and balance of plant and the HSE legislation underpinning such operations. Most importantly you will have strong communication skills and be able to influence the process in a professional and positive manner. On offer is a base salary of between 45-50k along with a package that includes 33 days annual leave, healthcare plan, life assurance and bonus scheme.
