A special school in Knowsley is looking for 1:1 Teaching Assistants for September. At this school, students are encouraged to take ownership of their personal development and behavior, build positive relationships, and become valued members of society. The school provides a structured, safe, and caring environment where students can make meaningful progress.
The school we are recruiting for are growing! They're expanding to another site in Liverpool, which will allow them to offer 130 more places for children with profound & multiple learning needs, ASD & moderate learning needs over the next 12 to 18 months. It's an exciting time to join the school with many opportunities for development.
While some children may have complex medical needs, such as epilepsy, stoma bags, or peg feeding requirements, onsite medical professionals and comprehensive training will be provided. Prior experience with these conditions is not necessary, but a willingness to undergo relevant training is essential.
The right Teaching Assistant will be able to work from 8:30-15:30 and this is a long term, full time role. The rates of pay will be £84 per day.
The main responsibilities for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant are to:

You will be responsible for supporting students' social-emotional engagement and fostering independence within a safe classroom environment, in addition to your own assigned pupil.

Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for each student.

Promote the inclusion of all students, so that all have equal opportunities to feel included and to contribute to school life.
*
Support class teachers to create a supportive and relaxed working environment that make students feel happy and secure.
*
Implement the positive behaviour approaches set out by the school, including Restorative Practice and Zones of Regulation.
A good understanding of behaviour as communication, attachment theory, communication needs in the classroom, and theory underlying nurture provision are ideal for any professional working in our school.
