Job Overview
We are looking for a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to support the team and department. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, concise, outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, with clinical supervision and support from a CWP supervisor and other qualified clinicians.
The role involves regularly measuring clinical outcomes and providing evidence-based clinical interventions, in accordance with the CYP-IAPT program. The postholder must possess a CWP qualification (Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice) or equivalent.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP), you will triage patients according to their needs and direct them to appropriate services, including voluntary services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Responsibilities include:
1. Establishing connections with services to ensure appropriate referrals.
2. Communicating effectively with children, young people, and their families during the referral process.
3. Identifying services for continued support after therapy.
4. Developing an understanding of appropriate referrals for CAMHS.
Working for Our Organisation
NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month for a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training and system training.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy.
* Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr Children's Wellbeing Practitioner course.
* Appropriate registration with either the BABCP or BPS as a low intensity practitioner.
Experience:
* Experience working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
* Experience working therapeutically with parents/carers/families.
* Experience conducting assessments autonomously.
* Experience providing individual interventions with children and young people aged 3 to 19.
* Experience in mental health or related services.
Knowledge:
* Awareness of NHS priorities and legislation related to children and adolescents.
* Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk.
Skills:
* Ability to communicate complex matters clearly and effectively.
* Capacity to work alone and plan own workload.
Other:
* Full, enhanced DBS disclosure for the role.
* Able to travel efficiently throughout the area.
