About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join us in our Express Restaurant. The successful candidate will need to be present with a warm welcoming smile and a can-do attitude, serving a high-quality food and beverage service to all our customers with a minimum of disruption to their working day.
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, rotating hours of 8am-4pm & 7.30am-3.30pm.
As a Catering Assistant, you will be doing:
* Carrying out practical tasks such as cooking, baking, cleaning, and serving. Preparing food and serving in strict accordance with food safety regulations. This may include preparing raw ingredients for cooking by peeling, chopping, trimming, marinating, seasoning, and storing food.
* Operating kitchen equipment for cooking, washing, and use of the coffee machine.
* Serving food and drinks for breakfast and lunch, plus ad-hoc drinks and confectionery in between these opening times.
* Operating the till; currently, all payments are via card only.
* Helping with the unloading of deliveries of stock and ingredients.
* Disposing of waste from food preparation, finished meals, and waste products such as oil.
* Cleaning work surfaces, cookers, and appliances to ensure continued kitchen operations and food service; cleanliness and hygiene are of paramount importance.
* Restocking vending machines/coffee machines on a regular basis.
* Ensuring stocks are checked and topped up regularly, from snacks and drinks in fridges and display units, through to condiments and napkins, plates, knives, and forks.
* Ensuring everything is ready ahead of the first service (breakfast) and is closed effectively after the last service.
* Updating the log book on a regular basis (kitchen record book).
About The Candidate
For this role, the ideal candidate will have/be:
* Previous catering/food service experience is highly desirable.
* Proven ability to work as part of a team without supervision.
* Proven customer service skills.
* Proven organisational skills.
* Manual dexterity and proven attention to detail.
* Proven ability to remain calm in a crisis, focusing on resolving issues and providing solutions.
* Intermediate level of literacy and numeracy.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a calm manner.
* Level 2 in Food Safety preferable.
* Customer Service Level 2 desirable.
* Barista trained preferable; training will be provided.
