About the Role We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience to carry out: Tree Surveys and Inspections: Tree Officers conduct or oversee regular surveys and inspections of trees on public land (such as parks, streets, and school grounds) to assess their health, stability, and risk potential. They prioritise work based on safety and environmental value. Risk Management: They identify hazardous trees or branches that pose a risk to public safety and recommend appropriate actions, such as pruning, removal, or other tree care practices. Tree Work Coordination: They oversee and coordinate tree maintenance and planting programs, working with contractors or in-house teams to ensure that work is carried out to high standards. Tree Strategy Development: Tree Officers contribute to the development of local authority tree strategies and policies, ensuring that tree management aligns with broader environmental goals, such as climate change mitigation, biodiversity enhancement, and urban greening. Arboricultural Knowledge: A strong understanding of arboriculture, including tree biology, identification, care, and management practices. About You The ideal candidate will have: · Level 4 certificate in Arboriculture · Extensive experience as a Tree Officer · Knowledge of tree inspections and recommendations - A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
