This is a fabulous opportunity to join a busy Worthing-based modern chartered accountancy practice as an Assistant Accountant whilst studying for an Assistant Accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship. The successful candidate will be a keen, ambitious addition, working alongside an existing team of 2 and the director in the Freedom Works co-working space.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As an apprentice assistant accountant, you will already have achieved your AAT Level 2 qualification and will be ready to step up to the next level. You will be an enthusiastic person who will fit into a small friendly firm and work hard to become an invaluable part of the team, supporting a wide range of businesses and individuals daily.
Key Responsibilities
-Bookkeeping for limited companies.
-Management accounts adjustments (prepayments, accruals etc).
-Assisting other staff with reports, Excel summaries, data checks etc.
-Setting up cloud accounting systems (Xero & Dext).
-Troubleshooting client problems with their bookkeeping software.
-Administration (maintaining database, client onboarding, scanning, electronic filing etc).
-Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and other documentation.
-Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.
-Keeping customer account details up to date.

* Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
* Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
* Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
* Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
* Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
* Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
* Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
* Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
* Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
* Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan
Training will be provided, including Excel, Xero, Dext, Taxcalc, anti-money laundering. Assistant Accountant Appenticeship Level 3.

Other requirements
You must already have an AAT Level 2 or equivalent in addition to the minimum Math and English to be eligible to apply. This is an Apprenticeship Job so applicants MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for it. Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK. Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer. Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study. 18-month apprenticeship (training period) including a 3-month end point assessment The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress to the next level. Attendance will be at Northbrook College. The employer would consider offering a Level 4 apprenticeship if a good candidate who already has Level 3 is interested.
