About The Role: As a Full-time Alternative Provision Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will be pivotal in providing essential support to students who have been temporarily removed from mainstream classes due to behavioural concerns. Additionally, the role may involve Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) support, assisting students with their emotional well-being and fostering positive behaviour strategies. Responsibilities of Full-time Alternative Provision Learning Support Assistant (LSA): Support students in the behaviour provision unit, helping them to develop self-regulation strategies and positive learning habits. Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement tailored interventions and behavioural support plans. Provide one-to-one and small group support, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning while addressing underlying behavioural concerns. Assist students in transitioning back into mainstream classes through structured reintegration strategies. Act as a mentor and positive role model, fostering trust and building relationships with students who require additional support. Adapt learning materials and resources to suit individual needs, promoting inclusivity and accessibility. Help implement de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies in response to challenging behaviour. Contribute to the pastoral and safeguarding responsibilities within the school, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. The successful candidate will: Previous experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU (Pupil Referral Unit), SEMH setting, or in behaviour management roles is highly desirable. Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and a proactive approach to supporting students with challenging behaviour. Transferable skills from backgrounds such as youth work, coaching, psychology, mental health, or social care are highly valued. A relevant qualification in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field is desirable but not essential. A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people, particularly those facing social and emotional challenges.
