An opportunity has become available for a Health Care Assistant at Darnall Primary Care Centre.
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to work with this forward-thinking service, which provides excellent care and has a passion for improving health outcomes for patients.
Working as a vital part of the practice team, the healthcare assistant will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a Health Care Assistant who, as a minimum, is trained or is able to be trained in venepuncture, BP checks, flu vaccines and simple wound care. Training for these tasks can be provided if necessary.
In your role as HCA, you will benefit from our nurse group meetings and regular educational meetings to support your learning and development. On appointment, you will have a short induction into the service and support will always be available when needed from our Clinical Nurse Lead.
Full UK driving license required.

Job responsibilities

1. Health Checks
2. Basic Wound Care
3. Pre Diabetic checks, including foot checks
4. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
5. B12 injections and flu vaccinations
6. Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment as necessary
7. Clearing and re-stocking of consulting rooms
8. Medical consumables stock control and ordering
9. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions
10. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
11. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
12. Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
13. Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
14. Escalating clinical and safeguarding concerns appropriately.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ III or relevant equivalent training, knowledge and experience in a Health Care Assistant profession.
* Phlebotomy training.
Experience
* Working with people including those from different cultures and backgrounds.
