Solutions4Health are delighted to be offering the role of Trainee Sexual Health Nurse at Newcastle. This is a full-time/part-time role with a salary of £28, to £34, pro rata, depending on experience. Progressing to Band 6 on successful attainment of relevant training and qualifications
Role Summary
The successful candidate with receive extensive training and support as they work towards achieving sexual health competencies and qualifications which will enable them to become independent Learning Disability Sexual Health Nurse.
Once qualified the nurse will deliver sexual health care, treatment and education both within the clinical environment and community whilst promoting and championing the rights of individuals who have learning disability to experience safe, consensual and healthy sexual relationships
The learning disability provision within sexual health is continuously changing and adapting as we strive to meet the sexual health needs of some of our most complex patients and the successful applicant with be an integral part of the ongoing innovative development work.
Main duties of the job
Personal Specification
The applicant should be a highly motivated registered Learning Disability Nurse level 1 with substantial postgraduate clinical and nursing experience (minimum 2 years); they must have a practice assessor qualification or a willingness to complete this. The applicant must be driven and committed to work towards achieving the required training and qualifications in Contraception, Sexual Health and Cervical Screening in order to work autonomously and must actively contribute and support with the ongoing development of this specialist service.

5. Registered Nurse Learning Disability
6. Degree in Nursing or Specialty related to post
7. A willingness to undertake the FSRH Diploma in Contraception Provision
8. Experience of multi-agency collaboration and working across professional and organisational boundaries
Desirable
9. Level 3 Safeguarding Children and Adults
10. Accredited Contraception module or FSRH Diploma
11. Accredited Sexual Health Module
12. STI Foundation Course
13. NMC Practice Assessor
14. Certificate in Cervical Screening for health Care Professionals (or willingness to undertake)
Knowledge and Experience

15. Post registration experience working with Autistic people (Minimum of 2 years)
16. Post registration experience working with people who have a Learning Disability (Minimum of 2 years)
17. Knowledge of the National Sexual Health Policies
18. Knowledge of the NHS Improvement (2018) The Learning Disability Improvement Standards for NHS Trusts, Mental Capacity Act (2005) and the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act (2019), Equality Act (2010), Human Rights Act (1998), Learning Disabilities Mortality Review (LeDeR) Programme (2018), The Autism Act (2009)
19. A willingness to undertake the FSRH Diploma in Contraceptive Provision
