Multi Profession Rehab Assistant (MRPA) (Stroke)
North Wales and BCUHB continue to develop and improve our stroke services. We now have an exciting opportunity to be part of the Stroke Early Supported Discharge team working as a Multi-Profession Rehabilitation Assistant (MPRA). Through a comprehensive training programme you will develop and demonstrate the skills to work with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dietitians, supporting and enhancing rehabilitation for people who are recovering from a stroke.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about neurological rehabilitation and empowering people. You will need to be self-motivated, compassionate, and able to work with a large and varied team, with the desire to continually learn new skills and adapt to a changing rehabilitation environment. Recent and relevant experience in a therapy healthcare setting is therefore essential. Proficient computer skills are also essential as documentation is electronic.
Main duties of the job
The posts will involve a wide range of duties including delivering therapy programmes with a holistic approach and under the supervision of qualified therapists, facilitating daily rehabilitation in the clients' home, following acute care to the community in line with national standards, delivering individual therapy sessions, gathering data to support stroke service audit (including updating the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme electronic database), and supporting the ongoing development of stroke services in the region.
The team are based in the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Rhyl and the successful applicant will provide home-based rehabilitation across Conwy and Denbighshire.

Person Specification
Experience
* Relevant experience of working within a Therapy environment
* Able to demonstrate promotion of independence and its effect on health and well being
* Understanding of the role of the Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist/Speech and Language Therapist/Dietitian
* In depth understanding of the concept of rehabilitation/recovery within the clinical area (stroke).
* Basic knowledge of main conditions relevant to area of speciality and the effects of illness on function.
* Experience of working within an NHS setting
* Previous experience of working with people who have experienced stroke
Qualifications
* Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care or equivalent level of knowledge.
* Documented evidence of participation in training activities
* Proven experience of working in relevant clinical speciality at diploma equivalent level of knowledge
* Good general education especially in literacy and numeracy to at least GCSE grade C in English language or equivalent
* Membership of professional body and/or special interest group
* Level 4 qualification in relevant clinical field
