Looking to gain hands-on experience in a technical role? What you'll do:
- Assist the Lead Test Engineer in testing products to ensure they meet UK and international standards.
- Use in-house test equipment safely to check product performance.
- Help maintain the companys LIA Goniophotometer accreditation, ensuring testing follows correct procedures.
- Keep test processes and policies up to date as testing methods improve.
- Record accurate test results and create reports for the Product Team.
- Track long-term product performance, carrying out monthly checks and logging results.
- Maintain the test laboratory, ensuring equipment is functional, calibrated, and well-maintained.
- Work closely with the New Product Development (NPD) team, analysing new samples and suggesting improvements.
- Organise and track test samples, ensuring proper storage and testing order.
- Stay updated on industry standards by attending training, forums, and events.
- Support Customer Services by investigating product returns and writing fault reports.
- Assist in special testing for customised products, flagging any concerns.
- Help troubleshoot any quality control issues found during production testing.
- Participate in new product meetings to ensure products meet compliance requirements.
- Look for ways to improve testing efficiency, explore new equipment, and enhance reporting methods.
- Follow Health & Safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Training and support:
During this apprenticeship, you will be paid to study toward a LEAN Manufacturing Operative apprenticeship, where you will will receive theoretical information to underpin what you are doing on the job in terms of quality processes and procedures.
The new knowledge and skills you will gain on this apprenticeship programme are extremely transferable to other roles and desirable from employers in the manufacturing and engineering industries. This means this apprenticeship gives you a firm foundation to a long and well-paid career in engineering and manufacturing.
