Job summary The role of the post-holder is to participate in the provision of Vascular Ultrasound and other services by the Non-Ionising Radiation section of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering. The section delivers a range of clinical, scientific, technical and advisory services relating to the application of non-ionising at the University Hospital of Wales and other hospital sites. It comprises 6 clinical scientists, 3 healthcare assistants, 1 clinical co-ordinator, and 1 receptionist. There are strong links with vascular surgery, medicine, haematology, nephrology, cardiology and other clinical services in the Health Board, as well as Cardiff University. The post-holder is required to provide safe, effective and timely diagnostic vascular ultrasound services to the Cardiff & Vale University Health Board and General Practitioners as directed. This will involve the use of complex imaging and measurement equipment for direct patient assessment; theywill assume a high degree of autonomy, taking direct responsibility for reporting the results of the investigation to referring clinicians and advising the patient on the appropriate course of action. They will also be expected to provide scientific and clinical support in the areas of vascular ultrasound, participate in the research and development activities of the Section, contributing to the teaching and training of staff and students.
