Main duties of the job
1. Assess prescriptions against legal requirements and the appropriateness of treatment with individual medicines, taking into account the condition being treated, concomitant conditions, and other medicines and results of laboratory tests as available.
2. The ability to work in a busy environment, in a dispensary or at times on the wards with frequent interruptions.
3. Accurately assembling and labelling dispensed medicines in accordance with legal requirements and SOPs.
4. Taking responsibility for confirmation of identity of dispensed medicines in accordance with prescribers' instructions and national recommendations on supplementary labelling.
5. Effectively communicating with medical and nursing staff to solve problems in the best interests of patients and providing information to practitioners to ensure administration of medicines is appropriate to the clinical needs of the patient.

Qualifications
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy plus successful completion of pre-registration training year (or earlier equivalent).
* Member of General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Prescribing Qualification.
