Oceanographic Data Scientist – MetOcean Solutions
Qualifications: Minimum of Master’s degree in physical oceanography or related field.
In order to apply, you must have the following skills and experience:
* Minimum of Master’s degree in physical oceanography or related field
* Experience working with large geophysical datasets
* Proficiency in Python and Netcdf
* Excellent people skills for liaising with project partners
* Willingness to work in an operational setting
* Willingness to travel domestically to meet with partners
* Good written and oral communication skills in English
* Enjoys being part of a team that moves quickly with minimal supervision
* An ability to prioritise tasks and manage projects in a timely fashion
* Supportive and positive attitude with a curious mind that encourages exploration
The following would be beneficial, but are not essential:
* Previous experience working with oceanographic datasets
* Knowledge of oceanographic data quality control practices
* Experience in operational oceanography or ocean observing systems
* Knowledge of coastal ocean dynamics through modelling or observing
* Experience with Matlab
