We are looking for a talented Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team, contributing to our commitment to quality, precision and customer satisfaction.
As a Structural Engineer, you will design masonry support to current standards, conduct load assessments and specify both standard and custom-made products. You will create detailed sketches and drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks, perform hand and software calculations including FEA, and ensure the structural integrity of products during manufacture. Your role includes providing technical customer service, attending design meetings, preparing technical reports, managing multiple projects, maintaining project records and delivering product presentations for training purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Specification:
* Design masonry support and lintels to current standards for all specified products.
* Specify both standard and custom-made items.
* Design special steel lintels and windposts, preparing detailed sketches and drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks.
Load Assessments:
* Perform load assessments on lintels using ‘BS5977-1: Method for assessment of load’ based on architects’ and structural engineers’ drawings.
* Provide hand and software calculations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Quality Control:
* Conduct spot checks on products during manufacture, ensuring structural integrity.
Technical Support:
* Provide technical customer service both internally and externally.
* Attend design meetings and site visits to develop and maintain customer relationships.
Reporting:
* Collate information and prepare clear, structured technical reports on site findings.
Project Management:
* Manage multiple projects with a proactive client focus.
* Maintain all necessary information and records to ensure successful project execution and completion.
Training and Development:
* Conduct product presentations as a training aid for staff, customers and site installers.
Key Skills and Competencies:
2:1 Degree: Engineering-related discipline e.g. Structural, Civil Engineering.
Proficiency in Design Software: Skilled in AutoCAD and Solidworks for preparing detailed sketches and drawings.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of current standards for designing masonry support and lintels.
Load Assessment Expertise: Experience performing load assessments using ‘BS5977-1: Method for assessment of load’ and conducting hand and software calculations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Quality Assurance: Ability to conduct spot checks on products during manufacture to ensure structural integrity.
Customer Service Skills: Strong technical customer service abilities for both internal and external clients.
