Severn Wye is a charity that runs dozens of projects that help reduce carbon emissions, create a sustainable future for rural communities, ensure that vulnerable households stay warm and healthy, make businesses more energy efficient, pilot carbon-saving technologies and inform policymakers in matters of sustainability and climate change. We have seen a doubling of staff numbers in the past two years and need the right person to provide HR expertise. The role of HR Manager is to ensure our staff have the support they need to achieve their best. You will be responsible for managing the recruitment and induction of staff, monitoring their training and career development and developing the HR processes and systems to allow the staff team to perform and have the greatest impact. In addition, you will provide confidential executive support and guidance, advise on HR strategy and work with colleagues on GDPR, safeguarding and EDI initiatives. JOB DESCRIPTION Job title HR Manager Working hours Part time, 21 hours per week Salary £32,000 - £35,000 full time equivalent Reporting to Director of Finance Application Deadline 9th December 2024 Interview Date from 9th December 2024 This role will include – Recruitment and Staffing : Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent. Manage the end to end hiring process including role descriptions, advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding. – Employee Relations : Act as a primary point of contact for employee concerns, promoting a positive work culture. Mediate conflicts and provide guidance on workplace issues. – Performance Management : Manage probation reviews and provide guidance to managers for annual appraisals. Design and oversee performance management, setting clear goals, evaluating employee performance, and supporting professional development. – Compensation and Benefits : Ensure competitive compensation and benefits packages. Lead monthly payroll processes and coordinate with finance to manage salary administration. – Training and Development : Identify training needs and develop or facilitate programs to support employee skill development, compliance training, and leadership development. – Policy Development and Compliance : Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies. – HR Strategy and Planning : Collaborate with and advise senior management to align HR strategies with organisational goals. Support initiatives around company culture, employee engagement, retention and the organisations compliance with its legal obligations. – Data and Reporting : Prepare and maintain accurate day to day HR records including holiday and sickness, together with reporting including key metrics such as turnover, employee satisfaction, and diversity, using data to improve HR processes. – HR team : Manage internal HR team members to assist in delivering the HR managers objectives. Executive and management support : Provide HR advice and support to the Executive and management including advice, guidance and training to managers on complex and sensitive staff issues. – Development: lead the preparation & deliver of training sessions on GDPR and Safeguarding, and to be part of the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion working group. PERSON SPECIFICATION We are looking for someone with – CIPD qualification or equivalent. – Minimum of 3 years of working in a similar HR function. – Strong knowledge of employment laws, labour relations, and HR best practices. – Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. – The ability to prioritise work. – Good IT skills, especially Excel and web-based systems. – Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail. – High level of professionalism, with the proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism – Self-motivated with a team spirit to work collaboratively within the organisation. Desirable skills and experience include – Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to problem-solving – Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with employees and leadership. – Adaptability in managing change and supporting organizational growth. – High emotional intelligence, with strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills. – Experience of using HR software packages including for example HR Partners and Sage payroll.
