The Post:
The PHS Data Protection Team exists to provide expert advice and guidance in order to deliver a comprehensive Data Protection service which ensures PHS meets its legal obligations while achieving its organisational core goals. Our vision is to empower PHS colleagues through training, awareness and expert advice to achieve high levels of data protection compliance and the trust of the Scottish public.
The post holder will be a key member of the team responsible for: monitoring and advising on compliance with the 6 data protection principles; escalating issues to the data protection officer or Caldicott Guardian as necessary; enabling the smooth development and review of data sharing and processing agreements; reviewing applications for access to data to the health and social care public benefit and privacy panel; managing information rights, and other requests; carrying out IG audits; delivering training as required; and providing specialist data protection advice.
The Candidate:
The ideal Candidate will have experience of working in an Information Governance environment with specific experience of working with data protection legislation. They will be adaptable to a fast paced environment, capable of managing multiple competing priorities and able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision.
Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow. We are currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home.
Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025.
Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
