Special School Nurse.
Chiltern Wood School is a special school for over 215 children and young people who have a wide range of additional needs, this could be Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, Speech Language Communication Needs and complex medical needs.
We are one school across two sites in the High Wycombe area and cater for pupils from 3 to 19. We are soon to add a third site at Studley Green. We have a supportive therapy team made up of a full-time nurse, four speech and language therapists, three occupational therapists and physiotherapy provision from the NHS, an external music therapist, a specialist communication teacher and three assistants.
We would welcome applications from enthusiastic committed children’s nurses or learning disability nurses with proven clinical experience to work in Chiltern Wood School. A nurse who has excellent communication skills and are able to manage their time effectively. An understanding of the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) and additional health problems is essential.
The nurse will work closely with education and other agencies to ensure the children achieve their full potential in school.
The special school nurse will be responsible for ensuring that all children with complex health needs have detailed health care plans and that these are reviewed and evaluated on a yearly basis.
There is a Multidisciplinary team at the school and a real ethos of working together for the benefit of the children, in order to help them reach their potential. The role will very much involve teaching and supporting the school staff in meeting and maintaining the health needs of the children for example by providing training inmanagement of medication,epilepsy management,andgastrostomy feeding etc.
Full training and support will be given.
An Enhanced DBS will be required for this post.
