Main responsibilities
Accounts Preparation
1. Small limited companies, LLPs, sole traders and partnerships, pension schemes
2. Prepare planning sections of work programme in accordance with office guidelines
3. Prepare and monitor budgets
4. Liaise with clients for information gathering purposes
5. Settle queries with seniors
6. Prepare completion section work programme including paper or electronic disclosure checklists
7. Review with seniors and complete file including reporting pack
Bookkeeping
8. Write up cash books, sales day books, purchase day books for limited companies, LLPs, sole traders and partnerships
9. Bank reconciliations
10. Prepare accounts from incomplete records or client trial balances (Sage, Xero, Quickbooks, etc)
11. Liaise with clients for information gathering purposes
12. Settle queries with seniors
13. Review with seniors and complete file including reporting pack
Audit
14. Internal and external audits
15. Fieldwork testing of bank, sales, purchases, including stock take attendance and other site verifications
Tax
16. Prepare personal tax returns
17. Prepare VAT returns
18. Prepare corporation tax computations and returns
19. Prepare P11ds
General
20. Occasional advisory work – business plans, profit and cash flow forecasts
21. Deal with correspondence from clients
22. Review work of juniors, resolve technical queries and ensure the file is complete and all review points addressed before passed to the manager
23. Attendance at in house and external professional training courses
24. Be aware of other LG services and products which may be appropriate to clients
Qualifications & skills
25. Accounting and finance or other relevant degree preferred but not essential
26. ACCA/ACA exam qualified preferred but not essential
27. 18 months post membership experience
28. Good up-to-date CPE and recent developments in accounting standards
29. Experience of OMB's covering a range of industries
30. Computer packages – Excel, Word, Outlook, Sage Line 50, Iris, CCH Pro audit, VT
