Automated Haematology Laboratory Service Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Biomedical Scientist to lead the Automated Haematology Laboratory at Cardiff & Vale UHB.
The Haematology Laboratory is one of the largest in the UK offering analysis using a tracked Horiba FBC, digital morphology and sample storage system, Werfen Coagulation (soon to be upgraded to a tracked system), Beckman Coulter Haematinics and Oxford Biosystems ESR analysers and processes around 1 million samples each year. The department holds UKAS ISO15189:2022 accreditation and is a HCPC approved training laboratory. Training and development opportunities are available and all staff are encouraged actively to participate in CPD.
Previous experience in NHS is essential.
Main duties of the job
You will have a keen interest in and recent experience of Automated Haematology Laboratory in an NHS ISO 15189:2022 accredited teaching hospital environment at a senior supervisory level.
The successful applicant will be expected to keep the service abreast of best practice and current scientific/clinical opinion in this rapidly changing field. You will be encouraged to realise relevant service development objectives and manage clinical and scientific research.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
* HCPC Registration
* FIBMS/MSc
* RCPath Part I and II
Experience
* Several years' experience as a registered BMS or Clinical Scientist
* Significant experience working in a supervisory capacity in an NHS Immunophenotyping section
