Job Title: Financial Controller On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Financial Controller to be part of the Senior Management Team to lead the finance function. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth running of financial operations, supporting both day-to-day management and long-term strategic decisions. As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in undertaking all aspects of financial management including producing monthly management accounts, regulatory and financial reporting, cash flow management and development of internal control policies and processes, ensuring the delivery of high quality and accurate financial information and insights to assist Directors and Senior Management team with strategic planning. About our client: Our client is an established UK telecommunications and utilities provider specialising in overhead and underground cabling solutions. Based in Brentwood, with over 150 staff and contractors, it has ambitious plans to rapidly grow by expanding its services and entering new markets. In view of this expansion and growth the company is now looking to establish an internal finance function that will support both its current operations but also play an integral part in its expansion plans. In this role, you will report directly to the Managing Director and manage a finance team. As the company expands, you will need to ensure the finance function is positioned to support this growth through scaling your team and implementing systems and processes to ensure robust financial management and optimum business efficiency. Salary: £70,000 per annum Location: Brentwood Financial Controller Highlights: Working closely with the Managing Director, the Finance Controller will: Implement and deliver effective and robust financial controls and reporting to provide financial status and insights. Ensure the financial functions, policies, processes, and systems are complete, fit for purpose and positioned to support business growth. Responsible for directing, co-ordinating and delivering budgeting & forecasting. Oversight and production of financial reporting, including weekly cash flow, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis Produce monthly management accounts for the business. Manage the production of year-end statutory accounts in line with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements. Manage the finance team, providing leadership and development. Manage any audit processes required. Drive a culture of finance excellence across all business functions? Manage account payables and receivables. Financial Controller Requirements: ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures including experience in corporate accounting. Experience within the utility industry is favourable but not essential. Broad knowledge and understanding of financial software with a working knowledge of Xero which is the current accounting software. Experience of working with the Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Proven record of dealing with and presenting at Board level A good mix of commercial finance, team leadership and process improvement across multiple sectors. Support with ad hoc work as required.
