Job Introduction
We are seeking an experienced People Advisor to join the CSG People team, during an exciting period of business change and growth. The purpose of this role is to support the business with an effective, customer commercially focused people advisory service.
This vacancy is to cover maternity leave on a 9 month fixed term contract.
Who you’ll be working with
Reporting into the People Advisory Manager, you will be an integral part of the CSG People team and will work closely with People Business Partners, internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support the provision of a high performing people advisory service, which helps to meet the needs of colleagues, supports successful outcomes for clients and aligns with the CSG business strategy.
This role will be linked to our Birmingham office, but some remote working will be available due to the national focus of this role. There will be a requirement for occasional travel, where required, to provide face to face support to colleagues across all of CSG office locations.

The purpose of the People Advisor is to provide both pro-active and re-active expert advice, solutions, coaching and support to managers and colleagues on a range of generalist, more complex people matters across the colleague life cycle.
You will work closely with managers, colleagues and the broader People team to provide a professional advisory service on a range of generalist people matters, which will include:
6. Providing proactive, consistent and commercially focused advice and coaching support to develop manager capability, drive a culture of high performance and encourage colleague engagement and wellbeing
7. Case management to drive the resolution of performance, probation, attendance, disciplinary and grievance issues, ranging from informal discussions, to formal investigations, formal hearings and appeal stages
8. Supporting line managers and colleagues with the application of CSG policies and processes, to help identify potential solutions for more complex people matters, whilst also considering employment legislation and best practice
9. Advising the business and supporting People Business Partners on the design and end to end implementation of change programmes
10. Supporting managers to deal with, or when particularly sensitive sometimes directly manage, complex and long term absence cases
11. Involvement in resolving more complex queries (e.g. benefits, maternity, absence or policy related) which are escalated from the DAC Beachcroft shared services HR Service Desk
12. Providing guidance around the Flex Forward approach to working and managing the formal flexible working application process
13. Supporting the People Advisory Manager and other People Team colleagues with relevant queries, project improvement work in support of the CSG strategic plan, including engagement, well-being and Inclusion and Diversity plan activities
14. Supporting the development and maintenance of people policies, to ensure continued relevancy, as well as legislative and regulatory compliance
15. Embedding and demonstrating the culture and values of CSG, whilst encouraging colleagues to be accountable to do the same
Who you are
16. Ideally of graduate calibre, with minimum 5 GCSE passes including English and Maths (or equivalent)
17. A CIPD qualification, or part qualification, is desirable but not essential as is the ability to understand a professional services business environment
18. Is able to demonstrate and effectively apply a sound knowledge of key employment legislation
19. Demonstrable experience of managing cases relating to a broad range of people issues, preferably gained in a similar advisory role, is essential, as well as the following skills:Good written and oral communication skills are vital alongside strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to confidently and effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues at all levelsProactive and willing to take ownership of tasks and projectsHighly organised, has the ability to prioritise effectively and deal calmly with deadlines and conflicting prioritiesTeam oriented, flexible and enthusiastic with a positive and collaborative approachAbility to work autonomously and use own initiative when requiredStrong attention to detail and a high level of accuracyIT and data literate with knowledge of Microsoft OfficeSome experience of working with People systems and/or administration essentialSolutions orientated, with an enthusiasm for innovation and improvementDemonstrates alignment with the Firm’s Cultural Principles (Clear, Creative, Determined and Supportive)
