Job responsibilities
Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.

Experience
* Significant experience of working as a Head of Midwifery or Deputy Head of Midwifery.
* Evidence of managerial responsibilities & operational healthcare experience in an acute setting
* Ability to analyse complex problems and workable solutions to address them
* Take action based on own interpretation of broad clinical and professional policies, ability to advise divisional and site management teams on how these can be implemented.
* Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands
* Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines & within resources.
* Experience in the supervision of staff and students including HR issues
* Experience of audit in evaluating and developing services
* Manager on call
* Change and quality improvement management experience
* Experience of close multi-professional working in an in-patient environment
* Experience of representing therapies within a trust setting
* Experience of managing a budget and of managing budget holders
* Experience of teaching undergraduates and post graduate students

* DBS clearance
* Management Qualification
* Coaching and Mentoring PGCE
* Root cause analysis training
* Registered Nurse (dual trained)
Knowledge
* Broad breadth related to above skills and experience.
* Awareness of developments in the NHS and service delivery and its impact on current services
* Good computer skills including presentation, data manipulation and spreadsheets.
