The starting salary for this role is £18,810.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

The Engineering Installation Group (EIG) is part of IED. The Group offers Engineering expertise for installation and support of a wide variety of equipment across many parts of UKAEA in all Engineering disciplines. This includes Plasma Heating and Diagnostics as well as other systems on both JET and MAST, and for other business units, such as MRF, RACE etc.
The Mechanical Support and Maintenance Section (MSMS) delivers a high-quality build and installation resource for various Diagnostic and Specialist Machine Services on the JET and MAST Machines.
This is a technical role which supports MSMS and EIG in the provision of these engineering services and assisting in the delivery of tasked engineering projects across the site businesses. This includes the generation of documentation and the supervision of others for the assembly, maintenance, and installation of a wide range of specialist equipment, predominantly Diagnostics, but also assisting with other Group areas as tasked.
This role supports physicists and engineers across the organisation to sustain/continuously improve existing installations and provide new builds or major improvements as required.
1. Attend designated training provider, develop and attain a good knowledge of technical skills.
2. Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.
Minimum Requirements:
* 5 GCSEs A* - C (9-4) including Maths and English.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrate an interest and aptitude for chosen area of work.
