TheRole
* Severfield arelooking to appoint a new Production Director for its plant inLostock, northwest England, which is a key fabrication plant forthe group, and has 170 employees. Its processes comprise ofcutting, welding, coating, and assembly, in a batch-ledenvironment, producing large bespoke products for highlychallenging engineering projects, where quality, and adherence tostringent regulations and standards is key.
* The role is responsible for planning, directing, andleading the manufacturing activities for the site, ensuring safe,sustainable, high quality, competitive, efficient, andcost-effective operations. The role leads a team of direct reportsacross Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, ContinuousImprovement, and Planning.
* Your role will beto assess and modernise the plant’s manufacturing processes,improve its quality performance, and develop its ability to executeits manufacturing plan consistently and efficiently. This willrequire the proven capability of being able to deal with old andestablished methods, alongside introducing new and modern processesthat will benefit the business, whilst being able to manage unionseffectively.
* Promoting a culture of continuousimprovement, and leading by example, you will develop thecapabilities of your team through coaching, mentoring andrecruiting new talent into the organisation.
The Candidate
* This is a leadership role for a highlyaccomplished Manufacturing leader, with a track record of leading amanufacturing plant of scale, where you will have successfully leda programme of transformation and modernisation to improve thesites’ safety, production, quality and commercialperformance.
* A passionate advocate ofeffective HSE, quality and CI, you will be someone who empowersyour teams, and who is equally adept at being strategic as you aregetting into the day-to-day operational details of the plant. Youwill be strong, commercially, and comfortable working in a data-ledenvironment, with a proven track record of applying continuousimprovement processes effectively to different scenarios andmarkets.
* Sectors of interest includemanufacturers of products used in the Energy, Oil & Gas,Construction, Aerospace, Automotive and Industrial markets. A trackrecord within an engineering/design led business, and experience ofsupplying the construction contracting sector, would beadvantageous.
