At The Veterinary Centre, we're excited to invite a passionate and friendly Receptionist to join our team! The Veterinary receptionist role is a cornerstone of an exceptional veterinary practice. You will work closely with our dedicated team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide exceptional care for our clients and patients.
In this role, you’ll be a key member of our practice team, collaborating with Veterinary Surgeons, qualified Nurses, and Student Nurses to deliver outstanding care.
Key responsibilities include:
* Ensure that all visitors to the practice are met in a professional, friendly and courteous manner always.
* Answer phone calls promptly and professionally.
* Inform and educate clients, always providing excellent customer service, in a professional, sympathetic and courteous manner.
* Offer a choice of appointments.
* Convert enquiries to appointments wherever possible to maintain pet healthcare.
* Organise appointment diary as efficiently as possible to maximise clients seen.
* Record, pass on and personally follow up enquiries promptly and efficiently.
* Add new client details fully onto the computer system – including vaccine status and correct contact details.
* Check/update vaccine/contact details upon each visit or during each phone call.
* Where appropriate, record any other information on the Practice system to support the Vets during the consultation process.
* Ensure invoices are correct and any adjustments have been added.
* Ensure clients pay for services on the day of treatment.
* Secure follow-up appointments to close a treatment plan fully wherever possible.
* Educate all clients about practice services.
* Actively promote Pet Healthcare Plans and pet insurance.
About the rota
This is a full-time permanent role working 37 hours per week including 1 in 5 weekends.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a genuine love for animal care and welfare. The ideal candidate should thrive in a busy team environment and be confident working independently when needed. Previous experience in a veterinary practice (paid or voluntary) is highly desirable, along with a strong willingness to learn.

You'll be part of a collaborative and dynamic team comprising 6 experienced Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Animal Care Assistants, along with a supportive Practice Manager, Administrator, and 3 Receptionists.
