Main Purpose of the role: The role of the Careers Advisor is to support and guide students at the College and its various sites to by providing professional career guidance services, including personal guidance interviews, in order to improve pupils' skills, knowledge and understanding for career planning and management. The Careers Adviser with a specialism/special interest in SEND students will work closely with our Foundation students, students with SEND and students with EHCP's throughout College, as well as with mainstream students. The role will also involve the organisation of Careers events for all students and work with all FE and possibly HE students to support their progression. Key Tasks / responsibilities: All tasks to be carried out in a consistent manner with the corporation's culture. Planning and Delivery: - Delivery of 1:1 / group careers advice as necessary (Face to face and online) - Support students to make informed decisions, develop strategies and carry out
career plans as well as advising on how to present themselves effectively at interviews and cope with the transition from Further Education to their chosen route of progression. - Promote the key employability skills of students by working closely with the Employability Department, Learning Support Department and Curriculum to ensure Careers is embedded within the curriculum. - Work as a team to organise a range of careers events over the course of the academic year to promote progression routes, possible Career options and networking opportunities for students. - Take responsibility for the co-ordination, development and monitoring of careers guidance and education for SEND students. - Work with the Learning Support Team to provide individualised and impartial Careers guidance to students with EHCP's in place. - Work with other members of the Careers team to process UCAS applications and support students in preparing for interview. - Work with the team to extract and analyse
relevant and essential data to monitor effectiveness and relevance of provision. Co-ordination: - Work closely with the Careers Leader to co-ordinate careers provision for FE and SEND students. - Help co-ordinate the provision of careers and Labour Market Information - Liaising with curriculum staff and Student Services staff, to plan careers education - Liaising with curriculum staff to identify students needing guidance Networking: - Establishing and developing links with employers - Establishing and developing links with FE colleges, apprenticeship providers, supported internship providers and universities - Commissioning careers guidance services, where appropriate - Managing links with the LEP and other external organisations
