Job Description:
Are you a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for a new challenge? Our client, a primary school, seeks someone with the HLTA qualification to work alongside pupils with varying needs in the classroom. The school prides itself on being a small, caring community.
Your role will involve supporting small groups of SEN pupils with varying needs, promoting their academic and social skills, and providing care and guidance for their wellbeing. Key responsibilities include:
1. Advancing pupils' learning in a range of classroom settings, including 1:1, groups, and whole class settings when the teacher is absent.
2. Being familiar with the school curriculum and age-related expectations of pupils, examination frameworks, and teaching methods.
3. Using ICT to support learning.
4. Promoting good behaviour and positive values.
5. Establishing a purposeful learning environment.
6. Monitoring pupils' progress and participation.
7. Maintaining high expectations for all pupils.
8. Using clearly structured teaching and learning activities.
9. Contributing to planning and preparation of lessons.
10. Promoting and supporting inclusion.
11. Guiding the work of other adults supporting teaching and learning in the classroom.
12. Providing pastoral support and liaising sensitively with parents and carers.
Minimum Requirements:
HLTA qualification and experience, experience of supporting learning, ability to manage behaviour without supervision, GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above, excellent ICT skills, specialist SEN experience, subject strength, and previous experience in the role.
