Registered Veterinary Nurse - Chesterfield
Role: This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a work schedule of 40 hours per week.

Overview
The role of the Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) is essential in delivering high-quality client and patient care. In this position, you will be a key member of the nursing team, working closely with the Clinical Nursing Manager to foster strong team ethics, while offering guidance and support to junior nursing staff and animal care/kennel assistants.
You will collaborate with all team members to ensure smooth operations across all clinical areas and kennels. Clear communication with other departments is crucial in maintaining the practice's high standards of patient and client care.
Main Purpose & Goals
1. Deliver the highest standard of care to all patients, ensuring 100% consistency.
2. Balance exceptional care with business efficiency, managing costs responsibly.
3. Maintain accurate client and patient records.
4. Offer professional, courteous, and efficient service to all clients, suppliers, and external contacts.
5. Participate in the accurate admission and discharge of patients.
6. Ensure effective communication between the nursing team and other departments.
7. Promote the practice's services, staff, and products both internally and externally.
8. Adhere to practice and group policies.
9. Play an active role in training veterinary nurses and animal care/kennel assistants.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out all general nursing duties and assist veterinary surgeons as required.
2. Perform tasks assigned by the Clinical Nursing Manager or Practice Manager.
3. Prepare and organise for incoming patients and provide support during low staffing periods.
4. Administer treatments, such as injections, medications, fluid therapy, dressings, and euthanasia, as directed by the veterinary surgeon.
5. Maintain accurate medical records, anaesthetic sheets, and hospitalisation forms.
6. Provide comprehensive care to in-patients, including pre-op, monitoring, and post-op care.
7. Ensure proper stock rotation and replenishment.
8. Participate in the out-of-hours nursing rota as required.
9. Plus additional duties as required.
Experience
Minimum of 1 year's post-RVN registration.
Knowledge
Familiarity with the RCVS Code of Conduct.
RVN qualifications and skills.
Skills & Abilities
Strong communication and listening skills.
A team player who is highly organised and able to multitask.
Proactive and detail-oriented.
Capable of managing projects from start to finish, meeting deadlines and targets.
