Job Overview
We’re looking for a Senior SEO & Content Executive to lead the charge on our content and SEO strategy. This isn’t just about writing good copy – you’ll be at the heart of driving organic traffic, improving how we rank in search engines, and boosting brand visibility through effective PR.
In this role, you’ll have the freedom to shape the content strategy, work closely with other teams, and ensure everything we do aligns with our overall business goals. From technical SEO to building our brand through digital PR, you’ll play a key part in the success of both National Tool Hire and Mammoth Hire.
What you’ll be doing
SEO & content strategy: you’ll be responsible for creating and executing an SEO and content strategy that drives organic growth. This means developing plans to increase website traffic, improve search rankings, and enhance conversion & assisted conversion rates across our websites.
Content creation and optimisation: you’ll write and optimise high-quality, engaging content that meets our user’s needs, whether they’re looking for product information, how-to guides, or advice on hiring equipment, whilst ensuring everything aligns with each brand’s tone of voice.
Technical SEO: working as part of our Tech Team, you’ll help make sure our websites are technically sound. Overseeing page speed improvements, mobile optimisation, and make sure we’re resolving any issues that affect how search engines crawl and index our site.
Digital PR & link-building: you’ll manage our PR efforts to build strong links, partnerships, and media coverage that enhance our brand’s authority online.
Keyword research and competitor analysis: regularly identifying new keyword opportunities and keeping an eye on what our competitors are doing, you’ll set us as the market-leader with a robust, data-driven SEO plan.
On-page and off-page SEO: you’ll optimise everything from page titles to internal links, ensuring every piece of content is primed for maximum visibility. Off-page, you’ll work on improving our backlink profile through strategic partnerships and outreach.
Site migrations: responsible for ensuring website migrations are delivered to best practices, minimising negative short-term impact.
Performance monitoring and reporting: you’ll keep your finger on the pulse by tracking of how we’re doing, analysing performance and content effectiveness through tools like GA4, GSC, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc. You’ll make sure the business has clear, actionable insights on what’s working and where we can improve.
PR campaigns: drive our PR campaigns, ensuring our brand gets noticed for the right reasons. From media coverage to digital outreach, you’ll make sure PR is aligned with business goals.
Thought-leading: you’ll stay on the cutting edge of trends, algorithm updates and best practices to ensure we’re leading the way in SEM
What we’re looking for
You should have at least 5 years experience in SEO, content strategy, and digital PR, with a proven track record of growing organic traffic in an eCommerce or marketplace setting.
You’re not just an SEO whiz – you should also be a strong content writer, comfortable creating and optimising content that resonates with users at every stage of their journey.
Be confident enough with technical SEO to brief developer changes.
Experience in managing digital PR campaigns and building relationships with media outlets or partners to boost our brand’s visibility online.
You should be comfortable analysing data, spotting trends, and using these insights to continually optimise performance.
Ideally, you’ll have some experience with JavaScript frameworks like Next.js and be able to troubleshoot technical SEO challenges in cloud-based environments like Google Cloud.
Nice-to-have skills
Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks (Next.js), and experience with eCommerce platforms.
Familiarity with the challenges of marketplaces or booking platforms, including dynamic product availability and pricing.
An understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities in the tool hire and equipment rental space, especially regarding location-based SEO and long-tail keyword targeting.
