Workshop Assistant / Support Worker
Hours: 36.75 hours per Week (Fixed Hours, 8:45 AM - 4:30 PM Mon-Thurs, 8:45 AM - 2:30 PM Fri)
Job Overview:
Supported Community Business (SCB) is seeking a dedicated Workshop Assistant / Support Worker to join our team in Crewe. This role involves working with groups of adults with additional support needs, teaching them work-based skills such as counting, precision tasks, and providing guidance to help them fulfil their potential in a supportive and structured environment.
Responsibilities:
* Support service users in practical workshop-based activities to develop teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Provide tailored support and guidance based on individual needs.
* Ensure a safe, inclusive, and productive workshop environment in line with safeguarding policies.
* Collaborate with staff and volunteers to deliver engaging activities, including skill-building sessions and social inclusion projects.
* Assist with deliveries, maintain quality control, and oversee workshop maintenance and repairs.
* Train and instruct service users in work methods and supervise their progress.
Requirements:
* Experience of working with adults with additional support needs (Desirable)
* Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude (Essential)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team (Essential)
* Confidence to undertake forklift training (no prior experience necessary)
* Confidence in driving the company van (a light commercial vehicle; standard driving licence required)
* Commitment to supporting the charity's fundraising and promotional activities
