Senior Application Engineer, Specialty Reading Support Engineering

The Books team at Amazon is its oldest business, and Kindle has been leading the digital transformation of this centuries-old business.
The KNFE team within Amazon Books is engaged in thinking and building features for Kindle that will make reading a delightful and differentiated experience. Our team owns key customer-facing features like X-Ray, Notes/Highlights, Popular Highlights, Search Inside a Book, PhotoQuotes, and many more. We own these features end-to-end, responsible for the backend micro-service architecture, the ML that powers these features, as well as the seamless CX on iOS, Android, and E-reader.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 4+ years of software development or technical support experience
2. Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
3. Experience in Unix
4. Experience scripting in modern programming languages
5. Experience in agile/scrum or related collaborative workflow
6. B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
7. Knowledge of Java-based technologies
8. Understanding of XML/SOAP, web services, workflow modeling, web application development
9. Ability to write intermediate-level database queries
10. Knowledge of distributed applications/enterprise applications
11. Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
12. Experience analyzing and troubleshooting RESTful web API calls
