Shift Engineer £45000 - £49000 The Shift Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of production processes. Working as part of a wider maintenance team, this position involves carrying out both scheduled maintenance and fast, effective responses to breakdowns. The successful candidate will bring strong technical skills and a proactive attitude to fault diagnosis and repair, while maintaining compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations. Main Duties & Responsibilities Carry out machining and basic welding as required Respond quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns Plan and undertake scheduled preventive maintenance Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records Work with a range of mechanical systems and components including: Milling machines and lathes Basic welding tools and techniques Diaphragm and vane pumps Pneumatics and hydraulics Clutches, chains, belts, bearings, and small gearboxes Qualifications Time-served mechanical apprenticeship (essential) HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (desirable) Skills & Experience Proven experience in fault diagnosis and repair Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills Self-motivated and capable of managing workload and priorities Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking Strong communication and teamwork abilities If you'd like a confidential conversation, then give me a call and we could discuss further.
