Job summary The post holder will support the Lymphoedema service in providing an evidence based lymphoedema treatment for the patients of Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot. This will include providing assessment and appropriate management strategies including Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, maintenance treatments, education and support for patients developing lymphoedema. The service offers treatment to all lymphoedema patients regardless of cause. The post holder will work closely with other members of the Lymphoedema Service including the community lymphoedema clinical educator, and community health care professionals to proactively improve patient's knowledge on reducing the risk of lymphoedema through group sessions and devising management plans for patients with complex chronic oedemas in specified clinics. Participation in education courses and patient support groups will be an integral part of this role as well involvement in research, audit, evaluation and collection of patient reported outcome measures. Main duties of the job Responsible for clinical caseload by utilising good organisational skills and planning of clinics.Assess and develop treatment plans for people who have lymphoedema in line with the All Wales Lymphoedema Clinical Pathway across SBUHBProvide treatment for people who have lymphoedema at a basic and advanced level utilising problem solving skills.Maintaining accurate records in line with Health Board and professional standards.Ensure patient databases (Pims and statistical databases) reflects up to date patient information, objective outcomes and clinical descriptors.Maintain confidentiality as per data protection and Caldicot standardsActively maintaining own CPD ensuring knowledge and skills remains up to date with current best practice and research evidence.The post holder will be involved in delivering and assessing the accredited Agored Cymru Lymphoedema/ chronic oedema courses.Contribute to data collection for the service including patient recorded outcome measures.Participate in service audit, research and evaluation.
