The Children & Young People's Eating Disorders Team is looking for an experienced RCN or RGN to join the team. The service offers assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention to children and young people with a range of eating disorders and disordered eating. The service has a multi-disciplinary approach to care and the clinical team includes clinical psychologists, family therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, medics and nurses. The service offers physical health monitoring for children and young people that access the service and the role of the physical health nurses is an important one. We are keen to find a physical health nurse who has a passion to work with children & young people in the community who present with a wide range of difficulties that can impact on their physical health.
Main duties of the job
The CYP Community Eating Disorder Service Physical Health Team are growing to offer physical health intervention across children and young people's specialist services. This role is to offer physical health checks and monitoring for children and young people that may require medication. The successful candidate will provide physical health interventions across multiple clinical pathways which meets the needs of children, young people and their families. These skills include recording of ECG and ensure timely interpretation, venipuncture, and any other gold standard physical health checks using Managing emergencies in Eating disorders.
The post holder will be responsible for the interpretation or escalation of these and the management of physically unwell children who at times may require emergency stabilisation/intervention. The role will involve providing interventions to maintain a child or young person's care within a single service resulting in a more robust and service user friendly approach to care. The role requires the ability to utilise acute assessment skills and intervention on a flexible basis educating and empowering parents for safe effective care to be provided within the home setting.
