The post holder will be responsible for leading on testing and implementation of component 3 of Martha’s rule across RSCH and PRH.
This post holder will lead on this pilot project using service improvement methodology, identifying and working with pilot wards, as the project leader. The post holder will have significant change management and influencing skills and will be leading on implementation of the patient wellness questionnaire, analyzing the data, adjusting and implementing change as part of the performance management process. They will be responsible for designing and testing education and improvement pathways and will need to be able to map, mobilise and motivate staff across multi-disciplinary clinical groups. They will be responsible for data cleansing and submission to Trust committees and NHSE as part of the national Martha’s rule measurement program. The role will include providing specialist training across the organisation on Martha’s rule and this programe. The post holder will require broad clinical skills across a number of disciplines and have highly developed leadership qualities.
Main duties of the job
·The post holder will be responsible for leading the implementation and roll out of a pilot scheme for Martha's rule with the focus on component 3. This is a cross-site role at RSCH and PRH.
·They will need motivational skills, working closely with colleagues at all levels within the organisation, both clinical and non-clinical.
·The post holder must be able to bring stakeholders together, identify barriers and enablers and high impact interventions for change.
·The post holder must be well motivated and able to work independently using their own initiative.
·To proactively lead the project within and across divisions. The postholder will need to liaise and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring improvements are monitored, evaluated, achieved and fully delivered.
·To use complex analytical skills to monitor key indicators, to provide measurable assessment of project performance in pilot areas, interpreting the results to develop suitable action plans for each area. The post holder will be continuously evaluating data and adapting effectively in response to identified project risks.
·Highly skilled and competent in the comprehensive assessment of this complex patient group using theoretical knowledge and a wide range of experience to autonomously assess patient needs and make decisions in communication with the patient about the most appropriate care and treatment to support deteriorating patients.
·The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a record of the change process methodology, identifying risks as well as completing quality impact assessment for identified action plans.
·Proactively monitor overall project progress, issues, risks and interdependencies, ensuring all key stakeholders are identified, roles and responsibilities agreed with regular assurance to Trust committees, and taking corrective and mitigating action where necessary, according to delivery timescales.·

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a six-month secondment to implement a national improvement strategy within the Martha’s Rule program.
Communication
1. Present and share information at both internal and external forums.
2. Act as a communication point for the project
Service Delivery and Improvement
3. To ensure all service improvement is patient centered and includes effective techniques and approaches to involve patients and carers
4. This role requires some knowledge and experience in quality and service improvement
5. Using appropriate tools and techniques support the delivery of project objectives against identified goals
6. Monitor the progress of projects.
7. Appropriately resolve or escalate any issues preventing progress to the programme lead
8. To contribute to the ongoing development of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS foundation Trust Strategy for Nursing and Clinical Governance.
9. To be aware of Trust and National guidelines, standards, and procedures for service area.
10. Be willing, if required, to assist in the delivery/audit/monitoring of the other components of Martha’s Rule.

42. Registered Healthcare Professional, with either HCPC or NMC
43. Current extensive experience at senior clinical level (band 6 or above), ideally in an inpatient ward or critical care setting
