The Role
We are currently recruiting for DNA Reporter to join our fantastic teams at our sites based in Birchwood Park, Culham, Midlands or Wakefield. As a DNA Reporter you will be responsible for the interpretation and reporting of DNA profiling results, to include comparisons of DNA profiles from crimestains with reference (known) profiles, provide statistical evaluations and will engage with the National DNA Database (where required). You will take ownership of a case and will be responsible for the production of written outputs to include DNA Results Tables and Forensic Reports. The successful candidate will contribute to the success of the team by completing all set tasks detailed within their Key Performance Indicators set by the line manager.
Please note: This role does not involve giving oral evidence as an Expert Witness at court.
Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work, applicants should note that security clearance is required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have five years continuous residency in the UK. Security clearance is undertaken by a third party to police personnel vetting standards (NPPV/3 and SC), as such any criminal convictions may prevent you from gaining security clearance. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Communicate with customer as appropriate throughout the lifetime of the case and discuss findings with the customer/CPS.
* Produce DNA Results Tables and Forensic Reports.
* Adhere to all aspects of the customer Operational Protocol and Eurofins Quality Manual.
* Ensure all work is authorised, completed to contracted / agreed timescales.
* Take responsibility for day-to-day financial obligations and time-recording.
* Seek continual improvement of methodology and processes that will have a positive impact on quality and effectiveness.
* Assist the management team with the operational task management of other reporting scientists’ workload to deal with planned or unplanned abstractions within the team (e.g. illness, annual leave, court etc.) to ensure the needs of the customer are met.
* Ownership of an individual Personal Competency Record document to ensure competence is gained, maintained and demonstrated.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate requires:
* At least one science A-Level (A-C grade) or BTEC equivalent (required). Scientific degree and/or laboratory experience (desirable).
* Understanding of the confidential nature of the business.
* To be able to acquire knowledge and demonstrate adherence to the required Customer Operational Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Management System, Health & Safety documents and CPS requirements.
* Knowledge and adherence to the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Practice and Conduct.
* Awareness and understanding of other evidence types (desirable).
* Knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).

Selection Process and Start Dates
Interviews/ assessment centres will take place between 25th November and 13th December and will require in-person attendance at one of our sites. Successful candidates will be expected to commence employment with EFS by the end of January 2025.
