Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Manager Location: UK-wide (with regular travel to London) Salary: £60-£70k, Car allowance, Private medical Benefits Contract Type: Permanent We are recruiting for a Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Manager to join a well-established and award-winning programme team delivering complex projects across the UK. This role primarily supports a key long-term client contract in the fuel retail sector, covering civil works, infrastructure upgrades, shop fit-outs, and emerging technologies such as EV chargers and alternative fuels. Reporting directly to the Head of SHEQ and indirectly to the Project Director, the HSSE Manager will be responsible for driving HSSE strategy, compliance, and cultural change across the business. Key responsibilities include: Developing and delivering the annual HSSE strategy, including identifying new initiatives and specific deliverables. Monitoring and reporting on HSSE performance through monthly client reports. Conducting audits, site inspections, and contractor accreditations. Ensuring compliance with the client’s Global Control Framework, including systems management and evidence gathering. Coordinating and issuing HSSE data requested by the client. Managing and improving the online training platform to ensure compliance. Encouraging best practice and delivering training on occupational health, behavioural safety, and compliance. Leading accident investigations and producing lessons-learned reports. Representing the company in client safety meetings, audits, and contractor safety councils. Mentoring junior professionals and contributing to HSSE initiatives across the business, including construction, turnkey, healthcare, and heritage projects. Candidate requirements: NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) and working towards Chartered status. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent preferred. Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders. Experience in analysing HSSE data and developing action plans. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams). Power BI knowledge is beneficial but not essential. Willingness to travel and engage with teams across the UK.
