A Kitchen Assistant in a care home supports the catering team by ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with food preparation. They play a vital role in providing nutritious meals for residents while upholding hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages.
* Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
* Follow food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP guidelines).
* Store and handle food properly to prevent contamination.
* Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation.
* Ensure all kitchen areas, surfaces, and floors are cleaned regularly.
* Dispose of waste and maintain stock of kitchen supplies.
* Follow dietary requirements and meal plans tailored to residents' needs.
Essential Skills & Qualities:
* Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety.
* Good teamwork and communication skills.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements & Qualifications:
* Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
* Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment (preferred but not always required).

* A positive and proactive attitude.
* Preferred if the worker can drive.
