Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key Scotland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness., The OT Security Team in SSE Transmission is responsible for the security of the digital systems that keep the lights on; this includes SCADA systems, telecoms networks and substation protection and control. Our work spans:
* Security Operations where we respond to and investigate security alerts;
* Security Controls where we assure and verify the efficacy of our existing security measures
* Security Engineering where we oversee new and changed digital systems to embed security by design
This role is focused on Security Engineering and the key responsibilities include:
* Support projects in cyber risk management and the identification, specification, design and implementation of appropriate cyber security controls. Communicate security risks and solutions to others through design reviews, factory security testing and site acceptance testing.
* To develop, review and update existing policy and procedures covering cyber security for all OT networks owned or operated by SSEN.
* Research and advocate new technologies, architectures, and international and UK security developments that will support the security requirements for SSEN and its customers.
* Represent OT as a security expert and contribute to discussions and consultations with various teams within SSEN, SSE Telecoms, SSE IT, and others.
* Become skilled in the installation, development, and maintenance, of the security toolset used within SSEN. This includes monitoring tools, log consolidation tools, and network security technologies.
Experience working within an Operational Technology (OT) or Distributed Control System (DCS) environment with a working understanding of the function and criticality of such systems. Experience of transmission specific systems is desired but not essential.
* Experience designing and implementing security controls for OT environments, including knowledge of relevant standards and compromises that may be necessary to balance security with operations.
* Ability to work on own initiative and manage workload with minimal input from others.
* A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering discipline or other related field, is desired.
* Professional security certification, such as a Global Industry Cyber Security Professional Certification (GICSP) or ability to achieve certification within eighteen month, is desired.

Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 (depending on skills and experience) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
