The Hawthorns Medical Centre is a GP practice (circa 3500 patients) in Smethwick, West Midlands. It is part of Oldbury and Smethwick PCN.
Due to a change in staff, we have a vacancy for a practice manager to join our enthusiastic, forward-thinking GP surgery practice team. We have up to 30 hours per week available and are able to work flexibly with the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The role is responsible for ensuring the practice operates effectively, HR, compliance, overseeing premises management, developing and implementing new systems and processes. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in these areas.

Hawthorns Medical Centre is a 2-partner GP practice. We have a team of regular dedicated staff, including many different ARRs and a patient list size of around 3,500.
We use the SystmOne clinical system.
Our practice continually strives to improve work processes and we are looking for a new Practice Manager who is enthusiastic about being a part of forward changes.
Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Manager. Depending on workload and staffing levels, there may be a requirement to carry out other tasks:
1. Oversee the management of the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring that staff achieve their primary responsibilities.
2. Manage the HR processes, including recruitment, relevant checks, contractual issues, appraisals, and staff performance.
3. Ensure employment law and legislation are adhered to.
4. Keep up to date with the developments and changes within primary care.
5. Assist in the preparation of business cases for new services, as required.
6. Responsible for communications with patients, including complaints handling and website management.
7. Assist in ensuring QQF and commissioned service targets are met.
8. Develop and implement strategic plans to support the practice in its growth and development.
9. Manage contracts for services.
10. Oversee the review and update of all practice policies and procedures.
11. Ensure CQC compliance and support the management of the PPG.
12. Liaise with external professional colleagues in appropriate settings and forums to ensure that the Partners are kept up to date with issues and agendas.

Qualifications
* Literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to manage a small to medium-sized business.
Experience
* Experience of managing teams.
* Experience of HR processes, including staff development and performance management.
* Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects.
* Experience of workforce planning and development.
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* NHS/primary care general practice experience.
* Premises management and health and safety experience.
