Band 3) What we do At Compton Care, we deliver care to people who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting or end-of-life condition. Established for over 40 years, we provide specialist care to patients and support for their families, helping them navigate every aspect of life with a life-limiting condition. What will you do? As a Steward / Grounds and Handy Person at Compton Hall, you'll be working as part of our friendly estates team providing a stewarding service to the organisation across all sites, including key support to clinical services and all other disciplines. You will also be responsible for the completion of the general maintenance program at all Compton sites and grounds, which includes actioning and completing minor repairs and other maintenance PPM work as necessary. You will participate in and comply with all current Health and Safety legislation including managing flushing/testing/inspections/audits. You will also support with all grounds maintenance, including garden maintenance. Using a company vehicle, you will make deliveries to all sites in the group as requested. You will be responsible for the receipt and movement of all mail and equipment, including sundry items for distribution as requested. As a key holder, you will control the opening and lockdown of the site as appropriate to the shift you are working. This includes being actively involved in all fire coordination requirements. You will also participate in the ‘on-call’ duties on a rota basis that may include out-of-hours site visits to deal with plant failure and issues that need immediate attention. What we want you to bring Ideally, you will have experience in a similar role where you have provided stewarding, portering, and/or maintenance support. You will need to hold a full driving licence and be confident with driving passengers and goods between sites. You will have great communication skills with the ability to build good customer relations with internal and external stakeholders. You will need to be organised and able to prioritise a competing workload and be a good timekeeper. The role will require some manual handling, so you must be able to carry out manual handling in line with training. Due to the nature of the organisation, you will also need to work confidentially. The role will require shift work and some ‘on-call’ duty, so you will need to be flexible in the hours you can work across a seven-day service. Early shifts commence at 06:30 and late shifts finish at 22:00 hours. On call is between the hours of 10:00 and 06:00.
