Job overview
• Deputise for the HoN/Deputy Director for Infection Prevention and Control as required.
• Provide expert advice and support to staff and patients across the organisation to ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control are maintained.
• Together with the HoN/Deputy DIPC, responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Infection Prevention & Control strategy, policies, and annual programme of work and ongoing development and evaluation of strategies at Trust and Divisional level.
• Provide professional leadership and line management to junior members of the IPC team and ensure training needs analysis is completed for each team member to align with their professional development.
• Contribute through their knowledge and professionalism to the continual evolution and improvement of the Infection Prevention & Control service and the reputation of the Trust as a leader in the delivery of integrated infection prevention and control and patient safety.
• Provide effective, visible leadership that fosters a culture of professionalism, compassion, excellence, and quality improvement including the development of effective team working and maintaining clinical expertise.
Main duties of the job
• Work collaboratively with the other senior ICNs to provide management and leadership to the IPC team and oversee projects, supporting the junior members of the team.
• Deputise for the Head of Nursing for Infection Prevention and Control as required.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* Registered Nurse, NMC registered
* Prior experience as a Band 7 IPC nurse or above
* Achieved or working towards IPC accredited course
* ENB998 or equivalent teaching qualification
* Knowledge of current professional issues related to IPC and clinical practice
* Car driver, hold a valid UK driver's licence
* Experience of policy writing and reviewing
* MSc in Infection Control
* Experience of managing a team
* Experience working in acute and community settings
