As an Engineering Quality Assurance Assessor at First Central, you'll be at the heart of ensuring our engineering processes meet the gold standard. Your role is all about evaluating and monitoring how we do things—making sure procedures are followed, quality is upheld, and improvements are constantly identified. You’ll test the accuracy of repair calculations, valuations, salvage categorisation, along with compliance to SOP’s. You’ll maintain accurate records of assessments, findings, and follow-up actions to support transparency and decision-making. You’ll ensure the integrity and accuracy of sensitive insurance data, such as personal details, coverage, and claims history You’ll be developing and enforcing quality standards and best practices. You’ll identify areas for process improvement within the Engineering function. You’ll assist with continuous development of departmental processes and procedures and drive improvement to support the achievement of business objectives, this will require the involvement in exploring different platforms for us to use within the business. You’ll be supporting with external supplier reviews. You’ll analyse adequacy of identified risk and the reliability and adherence to internal controls. You’ll demonstrate First Central values and appropriate behaviours, including collaboration and teamwork. Working collaboratively with all teams and colleagues, ensuring consistency to quality assurance approach and best practice within the team. You’ll provide positive and constructive feedback to colleagues and suppliers around processes and the financial impact when these are not adhered to. Building and maintaining respectful relationships with all colleagues, working closely with other departments and supporting them as and when required. You’ll actively seek opportunities and promote continuous improvement within the department. You’ll contribute to any ad hoc projects or policy updates as required. You’ll be responsible for own personal development and knowledge management, updating 121/appraisal documentation within required timeframes. You’ll ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations always. Experience & Knowledge You’ve proven experience of working in a motor vehicle estimating / motor engineering environment Influencing, negotiation and relationship building You’ve solid claims knowledge You’ve competent understanding of insurance principals You’ve extensive vehicle make up knowledge You’ve good working knowledge of vehicle types, makes and models You’ve a comprehensive knowledge of motor vehicles, modern repair techniques, estimating methods, technology and equipment used in the vehicle repair environment. Knowledge of FCA requirements (including individual responsibilities in relation to Consumer Duty) You can provide coaching to employees You can work in a quality assurance environment including risk and controls principles, focusing on customer outcomes Problem solving and continuous improvement principles Data analysis and translation of management information to tangible actions Private motor vehicle insurance industry, ideally in both policy and claims environments You’ve worked in a financial service regulated environment You’ve sound knowledge of insurance policy and claims principles You’ve comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and company policies Skills You’ll be a great communicator, both verbal and written Organisation, timekeeping and structure are second nature to you You’ve got strong numeracy and literacy skills You’ve got strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to identify root causes and solutions You’re not fazed by computers and software. Competent in Microsoft applications, particularly Word and Excel. Qualifications Membership (or working towards membership) of the IAEA or IMI Practical experience via an apprenticeship Degree in related engineering field Behaviours You’re customer focused and passionate about achieving the right customer outcomes.
