We are looking for a skilled Plant and Machinery Technician to join our team, specialising in the maintenance and repair of equipment used in the waste management and skip hire industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing both static and mobile plant machinery, site buildings, and lorries. This role also involves providing support for site operations, ensuring minimal downtime, and aiding with general site maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintenance and repair of static plant, mobile plant, and site buildings.
* Diagnose and repair plant machinery breakdowns.
* Maintain and repair skips and skip-related equipment.
* Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on lorries, as well as assist with breakdowns.
* Complete job cards, maintenance logs, and weekly maintenance sheets.
* Order necessary parts and materials.
* Perform welding and fabrication tasks.
* Assist with general site maintenance and any additional tasks as needed.
Personal Attributes:
* Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on minimising downtime.
* Quick-thinking with logical and methodical fault-finding skills.
* Competent in all aspects of machinery maintenance and repair, including mechanics, electrics, and hydraulics.
* Understanding of Health & Safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
* Proficient in welding and fabrication.
* Ability to propose and implement solutions to operational issues.
Desirable Skills (but not essential):
* Cat C driving license.
* Experience operating plant machinery (e.g., excavators, grabs, forklifts).
* Knowledge of waste management systems (trommels, conveyors, blowers).
* Experience working with hydraulic balers.
* Familiarity with waste transfer stations and their procedures.
Full training alongside the current Plant and Machinery Technician to ensure familiarity with our operational and company standards.

Scheduled Hours: Operational hours between 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday based on a rota system with the Workshop Manager. Contracted annualised hours of 2470.
On occasion a Saturday availability as of when required.
