Job summary Abbotswood Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) to join our team on a part-time basis, for 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday (this can be flexible). The GPA position is a support role, covering administrative tasks and some basic clinical duties, to assist the GPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time. The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery. Main duties of the job Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence. Extracting information from clinical documents that require coding. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments. Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core elements of paperwork, for the GP to approve and sign including insurance, mortgage and benefits agency forms. Improving patient flow. Supporting patient experience by reiterating information from the GP. Assisting with practice tasks. Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. arranging admission. Supporting the prescription clerk team.
