General Description of Position Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Information Systems, the Information Systems Business Analyst provides both technical and functional support across the College for various enterprise-level applications and is a troubleshooter for operational problems involving those technology systems.
This individual assists in the project management and implementation of new systems as well as the testing of new functionality and patches applied to existing systems. Along with leading and facilitating cross-divisional meetings, this individual will also participate in preparing and maintaining end-user training materials and conduct training sessions as needed. As a representative of the Information Systems team, the Business Analyst works as a technology liaison with other departments and stakeholders in order to understand structure, policies, and operations throughout the various College divisions. Using the knowledge and expertise gained, the Business Analyst will analyze business processes, identify needs, and recommend or develop solutions to enhance the effectiveness of technology systems supporting the College’s mission and goals. Normal work hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Essential Functions
Business Analysis
1. Collaborate with divisions and departments to understand their technology needs and challenges.
2. Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend technology solutions.
3. Provides a broad range of analytical support on business processes, including but not limited to evaluating existing processes, coordinating the redesign, and process mapping to create functional process guides.
4. Provides ongoing support for functional aspects of technology systems and infrastructure. Leverages technology to improve existing processes.
Requirements Gathering and Stakeholder Communication
5. Translate business requirements into functional specifications and work with IT teams to ensure proper implementation.
6. Acts as a liaison between functional areas and IT to develop and maintain effective use and understanding of systems, roles, and responsibilities.
7. Assist with the ongoing support of technology systems, with special efforts geared towards end-user questions or problems and assisting with the implementation and maintenance of new software products.
Project Management and System Implementation
8. Support the implementation of new systems and enhancements to existing systems. Perform system testing and validation to ensure solutions meet business needs and quality standards.
9. Assist with project management, implementation, and maintenance of new technology and third-party systems. Plan and monitor project schedule.
10. Identify and mediate project risks. Effectively communicate project tasks, goals, and deadlines with project members and leadership.
11. Work with third-party vendors and internal IT resources to ensure successful integration of new systems with the Ellucian Colleague ERP system or other existing systems.
Documentation and Training
12. Provide training and support to end-users as necessary.
13. Work with various College departments to develop and maintain technical documentation, web-based content and presentation materials.
14. Document and provide training using both standard office technology as well as proprietary or vendor-specific software and college-wide enterprise systems.
15. Develop and conduct departmental and College-wide technical training sessions.
Quality Control and System Troubleshooting
16. Responsible for ensuring content integrity in the Ellucian Colleague ERP system and other enterprise-level systems
17. Work with identified divisions and the Information Technology department to ensure operational readiness during the installation of patches and upgrades of the existing software.
18. Assist with testing and troubleshooting issues and provide support with upgrades and the testing of bundles and patches as needed to determine viability and functionality.
19. This position conducts functional systems testing, troubleshoots functional problems, and creates and runs quality control reports to ensure system integrity.

Marginal Functions
20. Serve on institutional committees.
21. Coordinates referrals for the delivery of College support services.
22. Participates in local, state, and regional associations or groups involved with similar technology products and other third-party systems.
23. Travel to all campus locations as directed.

27. Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

Minimum Qualifications
48. Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Education, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a directly related field of study*.
49. Two (2) years of work experience related to functional or technical support systems*.
60 credit hours or more of post-secondary coursework in Business Administration, Education, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, or a directly related field of study may be substituted for an Associate’s Degree.
A Bachelor’s Degree in the above fields may be substituted for one (1) year of the required two (2) years of work experience. Desired Qualifications
