Due to our continued success, we have an exciting opportunity within the Credit team for a Credit Underwriting Specialist working for a successful financial services company within the buy to let mortgage sector. Reporting into the Credit Team Leader, you will be based in Fleet working the hours of 9 am - 5 pm with WFH options available after training. The role would suit candidates with proven underwriting experience within the mortgage sector. The aim of the Credit Underwriting Specialist role is to protect the company from fraud using tools such as Hunter, CIFAS, and SIRA, and to provide vital support to the Credit Team. You will be the point of referral on Broker Panel queries from around the business, as to whether we can consider a broker on the panel, why a broker has been removed, and where appropriate, recommend that a broker is removed or reinstated to the panel. You will be responsible for Broker Reviews, Broker Panel queries, monitoring broker quality via declined and cancelled rates, analyzing data, and maintaining a relationship with the Sales team, which is also key to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Action and maintain all information from lenders on Brokers, reporting correctly onto the SIRA system.
2. Action and consider all broker appeals together with any broker panel queries from across the business.
3. Develop and maintain co-operative relationships between all internal stakeholders and investigate all referrals in a professional manner.
4. Work with Fraud systems such as CIFAS, SIRA, and Hunter to mitigate potential losses.
5. Investigate all intelligence and act accordingly.
6. Carry out Broker reviews, liaising with sales to arrange visits to the broker before removal and preparing a management report for the Credit Committee.
7. Report the removal decision in a professional manner to Broker Support, the Broker, FCA, and other Lenders.
8. Prepare Management Reports, ensuring they are ready in time for Exco or Credit Committee meetings.
9. Analyze broker data to protect the business.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Current or previous experience of working within the mortgage industry with a mortgage underwriting background, having currently or previously held a mandate.
2. Proven ability to exercise good commercial and professional judgment.
3. PC literate with a knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
4. Knowledge of Hunter, CIFAS, and SIRA systems would be beneficial but not essential.
