The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a Logistics Operative, to join the team based in Cambridge. In this position you’ll take ownership of the Loading Bay Service, vehicle management and gas farm operations.
This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. The Team
You’ll join a close-knit team of 4 Logistics Operatives. You’ll belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports big pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we’re looking for:
* Education: GCSE or equivalent secondary school qualification
* Experience: 2+ years' experience in a loading bay/warehouse or customer service role within a logistics environment
* Solid understanding and experience in either goods handling, traffic management or stock control
* High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures
* Good IT skills required (including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook)
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Valid forklift operator certification is a plus.
How you’ll thrive and create an impact:
* Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently load and unload goods from delivery vehicles, ensuring proper handling and storage practices.
* Vehicle/Goods Management: Using bespoke software, tailored to monitor vehicle management as well as tracking of internal parcel movements within the Discovery Centre.
* Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, adhering to safety protocols and company procedures.
* Quality Control: Inspect goods for damage and verify quantities against shipping documents, reporting any discrepancies to service lead.
* Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
* Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized loading bay area, removing debris and ensuring proper storage of materials and equipment.
