Do you have excellent electrical fault-finding skills on equipment? Looking for your first role in Rolling Stock? Already working on trains but looking for a change? We are looking for a Rolling Stock Electrical Technician to join one of our key rail clients based in Newcastle on a permanent basis.
The individual will be working with state-of-the-art trains and will be an integral part of the team. This role has a salary of £54,000pa (with shift allowance) rising to £59,400pa (with shift allowance) after completing competencies. The role involves working shifts covering 24/7, including nights, for 36 hours a week.
The ideal individual will have had exposure to the Rolling Stock industry; however, those from other industries such as RAF, REME, avionics, FMCG, offshore, brewery, mining, Navy, Army, and Armed Forces will also be considered, provided they have the required fault-finding and diagnosis skills. This is an electrical bias role, and candidates will be required to pass an electrical fault-finding assessment as part of the recruitment process.
Your Tasks
1. Undertake fault finding and identify the associated repair required.
2. Provide support across the business for all condition monitoring and manually monitored systems on the train and its interfaces.
3. Provide assistance and technical feedback to the RAMS / Performance Engineer and depot production teams on technical incidents.
4. Provide leadership and supervision to production teams as required.
5. Act as systems specialists (systems to be distributed throughout the team).
6. Perform functional system tests on mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems and perform specific measurements as prescribed/required.
Your Profile
Essential:
1. Served a recognised apprenticeship to a minimum of City and Guilds/BTEC level with Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic bias Level 3.
2. Extensive professional engineering experience in maintenance.
3. Knowledge and experience in modern technical systems and fault-finding techniques and the interaction between these.
4. Conducting and leading complex root cause investigations and reading electrical/mechanical schematics competently.
5. Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
